Jamie Oliver plugged his own product

Jamie Oliver plugged his own product
Times Online, UK - Feb 13, 2008
LONDON Jamie Oliver breached broadcasting rules by plugging his own kitchen utensil range on a Channel 4 cookery series, watchdogs have ruled.
Viewers complained to Ofcom after Oliver, 32, demonstrated and made repeated references to the Jamie Oliver Flavour Shaker in the series Jamie at Home, made by Oliver’s own company, Fresh One Productions.
Ofcom said that two episodes of the series fell foul of strict guidelines that “undue prominence” must not be given to any product or service.

He will now be known as the 'bad boy' of the FN. He's a cutie!

Wonder if it is a broadcast law in the US that people can't try to sell their own products. No one ever actually holds up his/her latest cookbook and hawks it. The Rach uses her ugly orange pans but she doesn't mention that they're hers. Hmmm, maybe it's law here too.

I think it is an agreement in their contract. Don't think there is a law against it as they do promoting/cooking on other shows like Ellen and the morning shows.

Maybe that's why he is doing a show in the US again. But I haven't seen him peddling any products.

I know some of Alton's older shows he would tell people some things were available at Food Network .com but I haven't seen him do it with anything other than recipes recently.

I think it might be different to self promote on someone else's show. The talk shows wouldn't exist if that was illegal!

I watched Jamie's show this morning for a bit. He was still dirty, wearing a camouflage hat over his stringy hair and the dish I saw him prepare looked terrible. Even he mentioned how bad his vegetables looked.

There's nothing wrong about talking about your own product on your own show, Jamie should leave England come to the US.
