Cake Challenges

The other thread was talking about how boring it is to sit and watch a taping of Iron Chef America. I thought the taping of an 8 hour cake challenge would be much worse. I enjoy watching the hour long show on TV, but sitting there for 8 hours? I couldn't imagine it.

I don't even like the hour show. I think it's boring.

I don't like any of the challenge shows either. All that work for only $10,000.00....not worth it.

I loved the cake challenges at first, but now they are just the same show with different theme, and it seems that they pick a contestant that they know will fail and put them up against masters.

I think it is ridiculous that these contestants make these elaborate cakes and then have to move them to a table as part of the competition.

The audience sits gasping as the cakes tilt and these contestants almost crumble to their knees from the weight they are lifting! Who thought of this program?

There was one challenge where they had to go through an obstacle course. I guess the reasoning behind it is that cakes can't stay in the shop, they have to be moved, and so should these.

I can tell you cakes this size are not transported like that, they are in pieces and assembled on location.

I thought multi-tiered cakes were assembled at the destination. Even Duff does a lot of work at the location of the event. They take them in pieces as many are too tall to be transported or just aren't sturdy enough.
