WARNING: Only play the embedded YouTube video if you want to hear dear ole Paula Deen's dirty joke that she used to close her cooking demonstration at the 2008 South Beach Wine and Food Fest. Ignore it if you care to think of Paula as just a sweet and innocent Southern lady.

Sorry for not getting the entire audio, but it was a long joke.

The setup is:

Three old couples were driving across the country to go to an AARP convention. They had been driving all day and were getting tired, so they decided to pull over and spend the night at a hotel.

There was this weird combination of laughter and shock that came across the crowd when Paula said "hardon." Who knew Paula was such a dirty bird?!

Well, we never use to think of her in that way, but after the first Paula's Party, the 'other side' of her came out. Maybe she should have kept that private.

Why in the world would Paula think her fans want to hear her tell a dirty joke? It fits in with the posting we had last week about her show at Harrah's in New Orleans. Paula's advisors aren't doing her any service by allowing her to behave this way.

Makes me wonder what the FN head honchos expect from her. Maybe there's a call for that sort of thing/behavior. I just posted something about Gina Neeley and she's a saint next to Paula.

I have to keep remembering that FN is a cable channel and, as cable channels go, it's 'anything goes'. Personally, I like a dirty joke as well as the next person does but when I watch a cooking show, I don't want it sullied by the cook/chef's raunchy behavior, especially when it's an older woman. It gives us older females a bad name.
