Rep Power: 2 | Phrases That Need To Be Phased Out I've written before about increasing dislike of food puns and food plays-on-words, used endlessly in both food-focused and mainstream media. You know... everything is as easy as pie or a piece of... More... |

Rep Power: 2 | For someone who pokes fun at stuff, why worry about catch pharses, if you tend to ingnore stuff it goes away. If we all stopped making comments here about your post sooner or later you too would go away. But than I guess you needed something to write or what complain about. Some of those pharses repesent the changing times and some look like ghetto talk, remeber all the redneck stuff we use to have, kind of gone now and so will most of these pharse as others come to replace them. Kickin up the heat, have a nice day, see ya!

Rep Power: 10 | Even though the phrases eventually get replaced with other phrases, they can be annoying.

Rep Power: 1 | I had to chuckle at the article because it seems others besides myself find Guy's term "That's money" truly annoying. I don't dislike him; just that phrase he seems to use ad infinitum. (Not the topic at hand here but the way he wears his sunglasses backwards - also annoying. Yes, Guy, we all know how cool you are.) I think my all-time favorite on the hit list of phrases is when a chef/host will say "Now here's what we're gonna do." A variation is "What we're gonna do is...." And then there's Emeril, who grossly misuses it with his combo of "Now here's what we're gonna do. What we're gonna do is..." I say just shut up and do it. He always seems at such a loss for words that when he opens his mouth even he doesn't know what's going to come out. Ol' Rach has one; "Everybody in the hot tub", when she's adding ingredients to a pot. Variations are, "Everybody in the pool" or "Everybody in the hot tub/pool, kids." I stopped dead in my tracks the day I heard Tyler utter "Everybody in the pool". I heard another chef use that term recently as well but I can't recall now who it was. (Old age - it sucks.) Things are getting pretty bad when you hear seasoned chefs using RR's colloquialisms.

Rep Power: 1 | Yes! I knew what it was right away! Between that and his pronounciation of 'onions' (on-YONS), he kept me in stitches. After he was off the air I'd read that he didn't have much of an accent at all; it was all phony. But he sure was entertaining.

Rep Power: 10 | Not Food Network related but people in my classes seem to say 'now-a-days' a lot, and it just really annoys me. I'm not sure why.
