Rep Power: 10 | Chic and Easy Anyone catch the first episode of Chic and Easy this morning? First shows are always a bit bumpy. However, I wish they had edited out the part where Mary talks about the farm where she gets her chickens and gets to meet them beforehand!
Ok, that was a major turnoff. I don't want to personally meet any livestock beforehand, nor think about it.
Read her bio and don't quite understand how she got a show on FN. Again, not a chef. How many of the last 5 shows has a chef as the star?
Her use of knives was downright scary...wasted a lot of the strawberries by slicing the tops off. But they do that on a lot shows...waste food.
I'll give it a few more shows, but didn't learn a thing that I didn't already know. I'd rate this "B" for Beginner's Show.

Rep Power: 10 | I didn't see it. My son rented a Wii game from block buster and wanted to play it. I have been inside a lot more this weekend than I normally would be this time of year but I didn't get to see this. It's only in the 60's here today. Kinda cool for us, normally its warmer by now.
I guess it's good that they only put some of the new shows on during weekend daytime. That way they can kinda build us up to seeing it more.
I wonder if there will ever come a day on the food network where shows only air once a week in every time slot? |

Rep Power: 2 | I agree BB, I was watching it and fell asleep in my chair. Hopefully it will improve. I really do not want to personally know who I am eating, even growing up on the farm the animals we had named did not get eaten. Now as far as the others, we never ran out of food.

Rep Power: 2 | It's still sitting in my DVR, haven't had a chance to watch it yet. But thanks for the warning. P.S. I hate when I see them waste food.

Rep Power: 2 | I agree. The show was one big bore. She talks too fast, she seems a tad jittery, her voice is a little too grating and she uses way too many hand gestures. And what's with brushing her hair out of her face every 5 minutes? That's one pet peeve of mine. If your hair is long, stick it up in a ponytail or pin it up. Her strawberry shortcakes didn't need that extra step of sifting everything onto a sheet of parchment. She could have just sifted everything into the bowl and stirred it with a spoon to make sure it was combined. We're supposed to be making things easier on ourselves, not harder.

Rep Power: 2 | You know she reminds me of a RR and Robin Miller combined, the writers must be from the same group, the language was very similar. I will give her a chance, but lord help us if it doesn't improve.

Rep Power: 10 | No, she reminds me of the Family Circle woman, what was her first name? Wasn't her last name Carmichael? Too much arm movement and hunched over. Seems to be rushing, and yes, talks WAY too fast. Think that was probably a case of the nerves.
We were watching her make that shortbread and it sure didn't look mixed well enough. She put it in the pan and it was sticking and didn't reach the corners. Think they must have had another made and had that in oven beforehand.
Nothing new for me, except she met her chickens before having them meet their fate. That was it for me!

Rep Power: 2 | Cici Carmichael. And her arms used to flap around willy-nilly as though her elbows were stapled to her waist. Sandra Lee has that same 'affliction'. And she had an annoying personality as well. At least the FN was wise (for once) in canning the show after one season.

Rep Power: 0 | I agree with you folks. I had DVR'd it and deleted it about half way through. I didn't even see the part about meeting the chickens. I like to think she was nervous and will improve if given the opportunity.
Actually, IMO there is way too much of this type of programming on the network now. Too much "home cooking". I like more of the gourmet shows and they are getting hard to come by. It was interesting when Rachel Ray and some of them first started because it was different, but it's not different any longer. |
