Rep Power: 0 | Alton Brown Travels! I joined this forum just to say the following:
Despite my addiction to Food Network, I have yet to see any of Alton Brown's "Feasting on Asphalt" series until tonight, I am still in the midst of the second episode.
The point is... Few people have been as entertaining on television when food and travel have combined. Alton Brown and Anthony Bordain tie in my book. Alton's signature informative, entertaining, and funny perspective are perfect combinations on the road... His humor especially for those of us from the Metro Atlanta/Athens Georgia area is on par. Intelligent, quirky, imagininative... As an Atlantan as well as an Athenian, we have grown to cherish Alton Brown as home grown just as the B52's and REM... Quirky, Smart, and always entertaining.
I hope that there is more to come from Alton and the road. |

Rep Power: 2 | Hi and
Nice to meet another AB fan
I love Feasting as much as Good Eats.
If you haven't checked out the companion book for FOA2, you should. Its a good read, like AB narrating the thing, and has some recipes from the show. |

Rep Power: 10 | I LOVE Anthony Bourdain...too bad his relationship with the FN ended. All the episodes you see are from YEARS ago. He has so mellowed and hasn't smoked since his daughter was born.
Oh, and the episodes you are watching on FN were WAY before he got married and, so to say, he kind of 'grew up'?!
Watch him on Fine Living. They are newer and an updated Anthony.

Rep Power: 2 | Glad to have another fan aboard ! I like all the CHEFS
I hope AB doesn't become a burn out, like the network has done to most of the personal they seem to get. Overexposure can ruin a good career, I hope he does some of the good eats episodes again, I really enjoyed his shows. They were informative and always interesting. I like to know why my meat is done and what it took to get it that way, or why in my root beer float, the ice cream sinks to the bottom. I enjoy the science he brings. It is not his chef skills that impress me but his scientific knowledge, history, and research he brings to his show.

Rep Power: 2 | From the first time I watched Good Eats I was hooked because Alton explained cooking. I know so much more about cooking, food science and history of food because of him. I like the fact that he didn't just create a cooking show, but went to culinary school to learn more about cooking. Ok, he's not a chef... he says he's not and also says chefs wear tall white hats and yell at people (ahem, ibecheft your avatar has a tall white hat what about the yelling ) But Alton IS a fantastic culinary teacher.
There are some new Good Eats episodes coming up, in fact one tomorrow night! Popovers! I've never made them, but after watching Aton I might try them. He always seems to inspire me to try dishes I might not normally cook. |

Rep Power: 2 | Yes I yell at people to get out of my kitchen if they get in my way( that be my boys) I tell them go to the other side if you just want to watch. Do I yell when I am showing someone something, no. I ain't no chef. Alton is more of a chef than a lot of the host they have on today, and like you I like that fact that he tells you information of why this does that, and why the cake rises when you put baking powder in it. Alton did graduate from a culinary school, which bring me to the point, you come out of there with a different view point, than someone who learns the ropes through their job, not saying skill are any different but usually viewpoints are. Let me know how the popovers turn out.
