They don't necessarily have to show it, but least mention it, "Remember to wash your salad greens before making the salad. These have been washed."

Seems like a simple solution.

I wonder with all the regulations we have for restaurants and food handling, they do not have to follow them on TV shows, seems like that is where is should be enforced the most, because of the exposure to the public. With all of the meats and vegetables having issues of mishandling you would think now days hygiene would be in the fore front of TV producers minds. And there should be a big push for public announcements on proper food handling. Seems if they can do it over there, someone here would do it.

Alton is very good at imparting the importance of washing veggies.
There are plenty of Good Eats episodes when he goes to the sink and washes something or shows how to clean veggies. The spinach and greens episodes are two I can think of right away where he's at the sink explaining how clean the leaves.
