The other night I was watching Mythbusters and a friend online was watching the same thing. The guys were picking out a fish from the store so they could try shooting the fish in a barrel, well I'm looking at the fish they picked out and I started saying how it didn't look fresh (the eyes looked cloudy to me - but its not like it mattered because they weren't eating it!), and how to pick out a fresh one. Of course, I don't like fish and my friend doesn't either so it was completely pointless, but its all food network's fault.

When I first got DirectTV in 2001, I watched a lot of Food Network. Now, I don't watch so much. But my favorites are:
#1 Good Eats!
#2 Feasting on Asphalt
tie at #2 Iron Chef America (tie because FOA isn't a regular show )
#4 Healthy Appetite with Ellie Krieger
#5 Dinner Impossible
If you haven't noticed, Alton is my favorite
I'll watch Barefoot Contessa, Essence of Emeril, the older episodes of Paula's Home Cooking and Molto Mario too. Sometimes Unwrapped and the Secret Life of... if the topic is interesting.

The ones I don't like seem longer than 5 these days But the ones I certainly do not like are:
#1 Semi-homemade with Sandra Lee
#2 30 minute meals
#3 Paula's Party
#4 Quick fix meals with Robin Miller
#5 Everyday Italian
I stopped watching Tyler because his verbal interjections (okay) got on my nerves. And the party show with the "Hearty Boys" is so annoying. The Gourmet Next Door is so boring.
Those Challenges shows... too many of those.

Semi-Homemade seems to be the least fav show.

Guy, Alton, Ina, Robert have gained a ton of popularity among viewers.

Ya know, folks...I have found that to be OH so true...NO one seems to like Sandra Lee. I find her extremely SEXY, but that's just me. I tried her idea of putting Peach Jello powder in lemonade, and I LOVED IT! Wow...she DOES have a good idea or two in that show...

My question:

If SO many people DISLIKE her so much, then WHY DID FOOD NETWORK JUST RENEW HER SHOW????

Rachael seems to be at the bottom of the popularity in these forums, and LOOK how successful SHE is! Ritz Crackers gives her even MORE exposure! That raucous, forced little giggle of hers, REALLY gets on my nerves! I just saw her ORANGE cookware at Linens & Things yesterday...man...I sure am glad I got my All Clad/Emeril pans!

Another question...does anyone here LIKE Sandra Lee and Semi-Homemade?

There is occasionally a tip on HOW to do something I will get from Sandra. But I don't like all the preservative laden stuff she uses to make it. It's not enough that I would miss the show if it wasn't there though.

I will watch Sandra Lee's show, my only problem with it is that it seems like you'd need money to do a lot of the stuff she does. Who can afford to buy a whole premade chicken just to rip it apart? Although I've seen some of the other chefs do it too, she does it a lot and I don't see how most people could afford to do it on a regular basis. I don't have a problem with her though.

Good question. I honestly have never had anyone say a good thing about her show. We were just wondering why FN keeps on renewing her show and she is on everything lately!

One time I was watching a talk show and she was on. The audience was silent and the host had to say, "Come on, this is Sandra Lee, let's hear it for her." I just don't get it.

I do think she is a very pretty woman but just not my style of cooking.

I agree that it is expensive. Even some of the mixes she uses and those packages of seasoning like McComicks in those envelopes. If you used dried herbs you could get about 50 times the amount for what you paid for those things and they are mostly just seasoned cornstarch. The packages themselves aren't real pricey but when you consider what is in them it's very over priced. And things like the chicken strips they sell cooked for salads and some of the other things she uses it's far more than you would pay if you just got some chicken and grilled it yourself.
