I still think the majority of her fans are those who like throwing parties together and decorating. They aren't your average foodie like most of us.

I love to cook and have parties with decorating and all. I just do it making things from scratch and decorating simply and elegantly....not all that stuff so you can't see the food.

I guess some people prefer not to focus on the food. But I am like you, I would rather have great food with quality ingredients. If all I was worried about was the drinks and decorations I think I would just get frozen stuff from Sams and set it out. I can't see chopping up stuff just to make it look homemade when it isn't.

Italianatheart4407, I like your "Favorites" list...

What is it that you do NOT like about:

1. Good Eats
2. Sara's Secrets

The others I understand. Although it's no secret that I LOVE Paula Deen's shows, I've seen enough of the posts about her to know that, in some circles, she is very much disliked.

Sara Moulton, however...I'm perplexed...just wondering what SHE could do so bad as to garner a bad rating. Alton Brown, as well...his is practically the #1 rated show, and just had his contract renewed. He is VERY kind, and even answers emails!

Best to you & yours!

top 5 in no particular order:

Paula's home cooking (older episodes)
Sara's secrets
Tyler's ultimate
Good Eats
Dinner Impossible

Bottom 5

Semi homemade with Sandra Lee
Paula's party
Quick Fix with Robin Miller (does this woman ever blink)
Molto Mario
Emeril Live (I think he is a great chef)

I really enjoy the older Paula's home cooking, her recipes were really good, but I feel she is running out of good recipes, and just putting a pound of butter in everything, and paula's party is just too much. I need more Sara, she and Alton have taught me more than any other on the network, I love the science of cooking.

Although I don't want to be mean about Sandra Lee because she seems like a nice person, I find her show silly, how many times does she need to frost a pre-made angel cake with canned frosting? I also cannot stand how she says the word "fantastic" she pronounces it "FINTASTIC" and says it constantly, also it is MILK, not MELK.... I know it seems a little neurotic on my part but oh well. And as much as I admire Emeril as a chef, his grammar is so bad that I cannot stand listening to him, for the record my grammar is far far from perfect, but you would think after all of these years it would have improved since he has been on TV, he must say the word "little" a hundred times or more on each show. Mario Batali seems to be a little too pretentious in his approach, I may be misreading his passion for Italian food for pretension but it rubs me the wrong way.

Rachel Ray is a bit over exposed and annoying, but I have a hard time disliking someone who seems to love life so much.

I think its not that people on here don't like Paula Deen, I think from what I have read (and how I feel myself) its that we don't like Paula's Party. She's too crazy on it.

Me too. Alton and Sara probably have the most to offer in the way of culinary knowledge than any other people on the network. But I also understand that some might not like Alton's goofy humor and props. That's okay. To each his/her own. But he does have a great show and offers a lot of info. Sara's shows were a little on the bland side but she's very good chef and even worked with Julia Child. She can cook a lot of the other hosts/chefs under the table

I think Paula's older shows were good. I use to watch them every Sat. morning but the newer stuff isn't as good. That's just me. I don't dislike her like some do, just not fan.

But hey, everyone can't have the same likes and dislikes. I have a great friend who adores Rachael Ray and I don't like Rachael at all but we get along.

I don't think Sara is making new shows anymore. The ones they were showing recently were repeats. I don't think she is even in the daytime lineup anymore since the new year started. I liked her and she is a good teacher, the show was very instructional though. Lots of folks find that boring.

Can't wait for Jamie Oliver's show. Looks like FN has added a couple of new ones.

Still wondering what is going to happen to Easy Entertaining with Michael. I really like that show. Things I can make for friends that are very tasty and different. Plus, I like his style. Very calm and instructional. No idle chatter and hoopla.
