Ted Allen is best-known as the food and wine specialist on the Emmy award-winning cable series "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." The ever-stylish author and contributing editor to Esquire magazine has also been a judge on Bravo's "Top Chef" and Food Network's "Iron Chef America."
Beginning Tuesday, Allen will host a new primetime series, "Food Detectives," premiering at 8 p.m. on the Food Network. The half-hour series is designed to explode some food myths, mixing humor and some science to find the truth behind food questions such as: Does it really take seven years for gum to digest in your stomach? Is the five-second rule true? And can an apple a day really keep the doctor away?
