You're right!
Yeah it seens as though the FN has caught Vikingmania. Note the fridge and built-in dual ovens on Emeril Live and other shows.
Tyler Florence also has a Viking Stand mixer in the background, but I haven't seen him use it, but both he and Guy have used the Viking food processor. On his older show How to Boil Water, there was an old Hamilton Beach stand mixer in the background.
Emeril and Bobby Flay ran into a problem with the Viking Stand mixers once. They couldn't get the bowl off the base! That right there, would make me not want to ever buy that, aside from the fact that it is also too noisy!!
On his own show Throwdwon, Bobby was making dough for donuts, and the bowl got stuck again on the Viking mixer. He had the turn the whole thing over just to get the dough out of the bowl!! And this co claims that they are better than K'Aid? I don't think so!! They're just beating up on a dead horse. |

Rep Power: 2 | I hope that Kitchenaid gets the reliability problems fixed on some models, they don't seem to be built like they used to be. Viking could get my business when my Kitchenaid finally gives up the ghost. I adore the design of the Kitchenaid with the tilting head and hope that they will be building quality ones for years to come. I mean even Toyota has a quality hiccup once in a while, I hope that this is all that's happening with Kitchenaid, I'll keep my hopes up, as it seems that Whirlpool is really messing up just about every appliance line, there was a time when Kitchenaid, Maytag, and Kenmore were rock solid products. From research it seems that whirlpool has cheapened the brands quite a bit. GE seems to be taking the lead on quality appliances lately.

Rep Power: 10 | If KA isn't paying for advertising, they don't want to give it to them for free, hence, covering up the name. Can't blame them for wanting $'s to promote their product.

Rep Power: 10 | That does make me wonder why they even use them though. It's like saying ... we prefer using this one, so then one would assume it's better and they just don't want to tell us that. I mean if viking has paid them why not make it universally used and replace all the kitchenaids. |

I know what you mean!
It's mainly the larger Proline Series 5 and 6-qt models that are likely to be particuarly the most troublesome.
The problem lies in the transmission cover, which has been made of plastic. They were supposed to have been replaced with metal ones by now. This process was to have begun early last year.
But I stay with the ones that have looked the same for the last 30 years or so, like the K-45SS and the K-5SS. Those two seem to hold up very well. I have both.
The Artisan is also reliable, I believe. But I wouldn't part with my K-45SS for anything! It has done well by me for almost 22 years. |

Incidently, I haven't seen their commercial for some time now. The one where the Artisan model was being advertised and with it, you got an attchment of your choice free of charge if you ordered the machine by calling the 800 number given.

I've seen the KAs being used on ICA with the pasta attachment. But, the Viking mixer, as well as the pots and pans are showing up more and more. Just today on Paula's show she was using a Viking wok. |

They ARE used there as well. Also, the K'Aid food processors and blenders
The sets that they use for the shows, are replicas of the way their own kitchens at home look like, right?
I like Aaron's spice draw! |

The current kitchen set he has was a real kitchen in a real house (it belonged to a couple who work on Good Eats) but he had to recreate it on a set after neighbors complained about them filming there. The first kitchen (the white one) was also a real kitchen in a real house, but not AB's
His real kitchen has appeared one episode, Give Peas a Chance. |
