New celeb chef simply delicioso

New celeb chef simply delicioso

Silvia Pulido did a double take recently when she saw a Hispanic woman cooking on the Food Network.

--------------------------------------------------

Pulido, owner of Havana-Jax Cafe, is used to the usual parade of characters on the network, and the usual culinary styles: Southern, French, Italian and American.
"It's always amazed me that the Food Network has almost no Spanish food at all considering how influential it is here in America," Pulido said.
But Latin American cuisine got a major nudge in July 2007 when the network launched Simply Delicioso with Ingrid Hoffmann. She already has many of the trappings of an up-and-coming celebrity chef: the show (and a companion Spanish-language cooking and lifestyle show on Univision) and a cookbook, which was released in February. Hoffmann, a single 41-year-old, even landed on People magazine's 2008 100 Most Beautiful list.
Hoffmann, whose show broadcasts from Miami, will be in Jacksonville on Friday, Oct. 10, for a cooking demo and book signing at the Publix Apron's Cooking School on San Jose Boulevard.
Hoffmann is something of a trail-blazer on the network. There have been other shows that include Latin cuisine, such as Melting Pot and The Two Hot Tamales, but a spokeswoman from the network said Hoffmann's is the first to exclusively feature food from Latin America.

I think her show is getting better, I like some of the recipes, some I am not sure about, but sure would like to try, since I like spicy food. Her presitations have improved and I am getting use to her speaking, sometimes I still have to rewind it, but it has gotten better and for someone who speaks 7 different ones I am sure her accent has been mixed, I think that is why some think her latin accent sounds fake, but she does sound a lot like my friend from Brazil.

I like Ingrid. Have not seen her newest episodes. But, her early ones were OK. Don't like the freeze frame though. Think that is weird and distracting. Saw her on (I think) Today show. She is tiny.
