Titled the “Aloha Kitchen Challenge,” the gourmet competition paired three culinary students; Benjamin Brunner, Justin Selk and Nathan Haave; with Tim Graham of Tru; Jackie Shen of Red Light, and Pete Rikes of Capital Grille. Judges for the challenge included personalities such as ABC 7's Linda Yu; Ted Widen of Chicago SCENE Magazine, Bravo's Top Chef Masters' Art Smith, Time Out Chicago's Around Town Editor Madeline Nusser and the Chicago Bears' Brian McCaskey. The partnering chef teams each created an exceptional dish in the spirit of Roy’s signature Hawaiian Fusion® Cuisine. Guests of this sold out event enjoyed the one-of-a-kind dining experience, indulge in the five-course wine paired dinner— which included a course created by Chef Roy and Roy’s Chicago's Chef Partner Kevin Dusinski, and one dish from each competing team. Judges rated each team’s creation on taste, presentation, and individuality, and awarded the grand prize to Le Cordon Bleu Student Justin Selk for his Marinated Ahi Tuna course presentation. |
