Ground beef recall expanded across U.S.

TRENTON, N.J. - The Topps Meat Co. on Saturday expanded its recall of frozen hamburger patties to include 21.7 million pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria that sickened more than a dozen people in eight states.

I have never bought frozen Hamburger patties from a store in my life. I guess it's what many fast food places serve though.

I always buy fresh ground beef as well. The only frozen patties I have ever purchased were Garden Burgers. Now that they changed the recipe and added a smoke flavor to them, I don't buy them any longer.

I do freeze my own sometimes. But I prefer fresh.
