Bravo renews 'Top Chef Masters' for Season 2 Los Angeles Times - CA,USA
... Bayless was crowned the show's inaugural winner after defeating a lineup of top competitors including finalists Hubert Keller and Michael Chiarello.
I think a lot of has to do with the age and maturity of the chefs, the Master are well established and usually pretty well known in one area or another, they are not out to make a name for themselves, and the competition is for their charities, not for themselves. It is a complete different atmosphere. I think in Top Chef you have chef out trying to make a name, show off there talents, and usually one or to end up making donkeys of themselves, or get that arrogant attitude that I am better than all the rest, and forget that the food is the proof, not them.
