Food price myths
Financial Times - 1 hour, 2 minutes agoIs more expensive food here to stay? Long-term changes in food production and consumption are being blamed for recent rises in food prices. But research by UBS suggests that some myths should be exploded.

Callisto in NC is on a distinguished road
I have noticed an increase in everything. Even little things, bottled lemon has gone up by .30 cents a bottle. I can't even consider shopping at Harris Teeter anymore because they are so over my budget now. I get three bags when I used to get five for the same amount.

I have started going to Sam's Club for things with a long shelf life. Tomatoes in sauce, paste and diced form I can use for so many things. I get bread flour, all purpose and yeast (I make bread a lot).

They have Sargento cheese that is very good. I have one of those food saver things to seal it up in smaller packages. That is great for the loaves of mozzarella too I cut it into blocks and shred it with the food processor. Pepperoni can be divided and sealed too.

I like the big bags of frozen broccoli, corn and the asian mix veggies too.

My husband laughs at me because we don't really need to take it that far with the budget cuts but I like trying to see how far I can go with a smaller amount of money. Then there is more to spend on other stuff. You know makeup and shoes for me ... Movies for the kids. The GOOD stuff.
