Rep Power: 10 | Breaking News: The Domino Sugar plant just blew up Well maybe not all of it, but there was a news alert on an "explosion" at the processing plant. Wonder if we should stock up on sugar in case the price is about to go up?
I hope no one was injured. |

Rep Power: 10 | That's horrible! Sure hope no one is injured. Stories like this are terribly sad.
I buy C&H sugar. I don't believe we have Domino's out here.

Rep Power: 10 | Really? Wow I thought domino was a national if not global brand. I think it's interesting to hear those kind of things. Domino has been here as long as I can remember, I never even thought about it being something local. |

Rep Power: 10 | I think it is a regional thing. When I was growing up in Chicago, we always bought Domino's Sugar. On the west coast it is C&H from Hawaii (that's what their ad says).
Always found it interesting that east of the Rocky's the brands for spices are McCormick and out here they are Shillings (or is it the other way around). Same thing about mayonnaise. East of the Rocky's it is Hellman's, west of the Rocky's it's Best Foods.

Rep Power: 2 | I had never heard of Dominos until I got here. It's horrible sugar. I have my SIL send my sugar (C&H) from California for all my baking needs. |

We had both McCormick's and Schillings in California but we don't have Schillings here. I still have bottles I brought out from California and they say McCormicks. Knudsen and Breakstone is another, Dryers and Eddys, Carl's Jr and Hardies, and Entemens/Orowheat and Arnolds. Same stuff, different name in different regions. |

Rep Power: 10 | I guess there is some point where they overlap if they can get from both distributors. Those folks get the best of both worlds. |

Rep Power: 10 | We are getting a lot of spice island stuff now in this area. I just started seeing it about a month or 2 back. |

Rep Power: 10 | The Rocky's use to be the dividing point when I worked in advertising years ago. Things, I'm sure have changed throughout the years. I had forgotten about the Edy's and Dreyer's ice cream.
While we are on subject of brands, does anyone still have Hostess Snoballs in their stores? I wrote to Interstate Bakery as I cannot find them in any stores out here. They said they 'should' have them, but they don't. Not even a little sales marker for them. The Hostess displays just have cupcakes, Twinkies and the pies.
I had wanted the orange Globalls (as the bakery rep called them) to give out at Halloween. Can't even find the white ones.
I know there are websites where you can buy them, but I really don't want to ship a couple a packages. Besides I no longer need them, but was curious if they were available anywhere else in the country.
