We don't have the sprayer trucks anymore here. I agree some things are probably not as dangerous as they claim. But this last toy fusing the little beads together that becomes the chemical compound of the date rape drug, I am amazed they never tested to see what made the product do what it does.

That one I couldn't believe. How that ever got through the channels is beyond me, but things happen. We never had such sophisticated testing when I was growing up.

It has never even crossed my mind that I should probably turn the a/c off when the truck comes by, although I probably should. I live in Central Florida, so it would probably take an act of Congress to get me to turn the air off in the summer.

I think that on some level, the media and the mass public at large is probably a lot more hysterical about things than they used to be. Now that we have the internet and the ability to send out huge, mass emails, it only gets worse and makes people even more hysterical. On the other hand, the frequency at which some of this stuff is happening is alarming. I would think that after the first time or two, companies would become much more vigilant and do all they can to prevent it from happening again.

My other thought is that since we live in such a sue happy society, companies would rather incur the losses that would come with a mass recall than risk a multi-billion dollar lawsuit. I honestly just don't know.

We just live in such a highly mechanized world. Things we were doing for ourselves just 30 or 40 years ago are gone. Everything or so much is done for us. Those companies have enormous quality assurance programs, just things get through, and things are going to happen. Plus our testing cannot keep up the pace of our processing, we are darn good at what we do, but sometimes technology just can’t keep up.>>

And I agree about the hysteria, just think how many servings of so many food items are served or consumed daily. IMHO, the food industry is absolutely astonishing, less a few mishaps.
