The perfect pot of coffee

I rarely ever make a whole pot of coffee and usually need to around the holidays. Any tips for making it perfect?

What kind of coffeemaker do you have?

I only use whole beans (Italian blend...French roast is too strong for me) that I grind right before I'm ready to make the coffee.

You need a very clean pot and cold water.

Need to measure the coffee beans to see how much I use. I have a line that is my guide on the inside of the grinder, but don't how much it is. I would guess about 1/4c. but I'll check it out and get back to you.

I'm a big coffee drinker and my wife usually drinks about four cups in the morning.

Anyway I put eight heaping table teaspoons for a 12 cup pot. Four of those teaspoons are of some different variety, right now it's French vanilla. Good stuff!

Sometimes we grind sometimes we buy it ground.

I think the best cup of coffee is Dutch Bros.

We have a Starbucks on almost every block out here (Pacific Northwest, home of the original Starbucks). Their coffee is ok, but has gotten very pricey.

Dutch Bros. have popped up all over the place out here and it is REALLY good coffee.

Until very recently I would have had to leave the state to find one.

That's because all the Starbucks are out here! I'm not kidding they have one stand alone store and, in the same little strip mall, there is one in the grocery store. They also have them kitty-corner from each other.

Between them and independent coffee shops, you are never more than a half block away from your caffeine needs.
