Rep Power: 10 | Elements: The bell pepper Elements: The bell pepper The Buffalo News - Feb 03 5:54 AMChristopher Columbus is famous today for running across a continent whose existence was a mystery to Europeans. Hardly anyone lauds his more remarkable achievement: pioneering the links that reshaped world cuisine by bringing potatoes, peppers and tomatoes to the Old World. |

Rep Power: 10 | I love orange, yellow, green and the purple in salads.
Green peppers and onions on Italian beef is the best!

Rep Power: 10 | You know I have never seen a purple one in person, just pictures. They never sell them here. |

Rep Power: 10 | If you ever do buy one, don't cook it. They turn green and all the extra money they charge for them is wasted.

Rep Power: 10 | Thanks, I will remember that if I ever see one. I have been tempted to try and grow some. |

Rep Power: 10 | I tried a few years ago. They ended up being strangely shaped and didn't get very big. Much easier to just go to the farm and pick them up. They don't really taste much different than a green pepper and usually more $'s.

Rep Power: 10 | That's what happened with my red peppers. Then something chewed holes laid slimey eggs inside. |

Rep Power: 10 | I recall you mentioning that last summer.
I have the utmost respect for all the farmers. They grow the most spectacular vegetables out here in mass quantity and I can't even grow a proper pepper!
A few years ago I tried to grow celery. Oh boy, that is really hard. It requires a TON of water and mine turned out thin and just not good. Celery, no matter how much it costs, is a real bargain in my book!
The only thing I do really well are tomatoes.
