Rep Power: 10 | Can women still cook? Can women still cook? Toronto Star, Canada - 8 hours ago "I don't cook. So I made my eat-in kitchen a fabulous walk-in closet," announces a young, attractive woman in the newest Citibank ad.
It's part of a $93 million (U.S.) campaign called "Tell your story" that's appearing in print, magazine, TV and online.
"My name is Grace and I live in a small apartment in a big city," the ad continues. "And since I enjoy a day of shopping far more than, say, cooking, I decided to do a bit of home remodelling. So with my Citi card in hand, I set out to get some closet organizers. I bought a shoe rack for the oven, sweater boxes for the lower cupboards and some 12-inch baskets for handbags up above. I saved room for plates, glasses and silverware. And one large drawer stuffed with takeout menus."
Citibank is so confident that women will identify with "Grace's" sentiment, they're even running the ad in February's issue of Gourmet magazine. Rep Power: 10 | I think it is becoming a lost art because so many women work outside the home and don't feel like cooking a meal when they get home. |

Rep Power: 10 | Women (well men aren't either) aren't taught to cook, even if they had the time they don't know how.

Rep Power: 1 | I work in a very affluent section of town, where the houses most likely have very expensive high end kitchens, and it amazes me how many people don't cook or can't.
I was in the local Fresh Market, their prepared food section was and always is insanely busy. The food here is so over priced that it boggles my mind, I picked up a container with 2 small slices of quiche and it was $9. They carry many of the same cheeses as Trader Joe's at about double the price per pound. I don't think that I could waste this much money even if I had it to blow!
I think many younger people think that cooking is too hard and complicated. In the time it would take me to park, shop and pay at fresh market, I could have a complete simple meal prepared at a fraction of the cost.
Oh and don't get me started on credit card commercials, they encourage people to dream big, and extend them enough credit to hang themselves (not everyone of course, but many). Myself I use the heck out of a couple of credit cards, then pay in full so as to not accrue interest, then let them mail me checks for the rewards!

Rep Power: 10 | Whoa....not in this part of the country! Young people cooking is quite in.
Daughter, who is 27 and has cooked since she was 4, has many men friends who not only like to cook, but watch the FN! They even all drove up to Seattle just to visit Salumi's and other places that were featured on the FN.
Maybe it's a regional thing, but happy to say the art of cooking is alive and well in the PNW with young adults and old ones, like myself!

Rep Power: 2 | I was raised being very comfortable in the kitchen. I will say though, that my kids aren't that interested. Funny.....when they are home they love the food. You would THINK that that might make them want to cook. |

Most of my friends cook out of a need to eat, and can't afford to eat out every night. None of my friends are foodies or chowhounds, but they do enjoy when I cook for them!

Rep Power: 10 | We have those (desperate housewives) here, but I was referring to the younger (20-something) adults. There is a real interest in cooking and cooking great food. I think it is rather refreshing to see the interest coming back, especially with young adult men.
Most of my friends would rather I cook for them. They love my cooking and are planning a party where they all pitch in $$$'s so I will make them an Italian feast. I will LOVE it! I'm in my element in the kitchen.

Rep Power: 2 | Especially if people contribute cash..........I could cook up a storm then. I'm usually shopping in the bargain rack and then getting creative. I usually plan my day around what I'm doing for dinner. |
