Perhaps in response to all the vegetarian cookbooks that have been published recently comes “The Shameless Carnivore: A Manifesto for Meat Lovers” by Scott Gold (Broadway Books, $24.95).
It’s a blend of memoir, history, how-to, science, polemic and even philosophy. Far from launching a scathing attack on vegetarianism, Gold simply celebrates the cultural history of meat consumption in America, and embarks on a quest to eat 31 different meats in a single month — a mission that brought antelope loin, kangaroo and even guinea pig to his table.

Eww, I can't imagine eating a guinea pig. The smell bad enough when they are alive.
