My oven does not heat up the kitchen. I'd rather cook inside on a very hot day than stand out in the heat and over a grill.

My kitchen gets quite warm in the kitchen. Nice in the winter, but not in the summer! Our house faces west/east (the sun goes over the front and back of our house all day). I hate cooking in the heat in the house. Better to have hubby stand over the grill in the heat. I try to cook at night when it is cooler.
Do you have AC? We do in the kids bedrooms (oldest son has bad spring allergies) And in our TV room/bar down stairs. Nice when the humidity is high!

It heats up mine too. We have a raised ranch, so it's like the kitchen is on the second floor when you look at the back of the house. But it is even with the road from the front and the lower level is underground on one side. It stays cool downstairs even in the summer because it's partially underground. But it does get hot in the kitchen.

We have a heat pump, which is like having central air. They aren't available in all parts of the country as they don't function with below zero temps.

However, I think it is the design of that built-in oven and our kitchen faces north.

No sun ever hits the back of the house, so the kitchen, family room, living and dining room stay really nice and cool. Two-story so most of the heat ends up in the attic and in our bedroom because that gets direct sun.

In the winter, we have a gas fireplace (green friendly) in the family room which kicks out the heat. We converted two years ago and would never go back to wood. This is so much cleaner for us and the environment.

Maybe that is why I enjoy my kitchen so much. Very comfortable all year long...I'm really fortunate.

My kitchen can get pretty warm, but not stifling hot. Our house faces north and the kitchen is in the back of the house with the window facing south, so there is no direct sun coming in. However, I live in Central Florida, so the a/c is on 90% of the time and it's usually just hot regardless of whether or not I've been cooking.

My house has a ceiling fan in the kitchen, which I thought was really odd when we first moved in. Initially, we were going to remove it, but now I kind of like it. I turn it on when it gets super hot and keeps me cool when cooking.

We have central a/c. I can honestly say that I've never lived in a house without it. The first time I visited my dad's house, I was shocked to find out that he didn't have air conditioning and even more shocked to find out that the house stayed comfortable without it. I guess we Floridians are just spoiled. Even my grandmother's house, which was built in the 1940's has central air conditioning.

Well, if it is hot in the house, I cook outside by the pool. Had barbecued chicken, potato salad, baked beans, cucumbers and red onion salad, for dinner tonight. I went through today and adjusted the thermostats in the house to run warmer this year, cutting cost one way or another. makes it nice since I am the only one who knows how to operate these, that way they do not mess with them. When we build the new place will definitely put a sink in outside so we can leave a set of dishes right out there.

prepared with passion and served with love !

I do not cook to live, but live to cook !
