Don't have one...received one as a wedding gift, but never used it and gave it away.

I bought an electric one a few years ago after watching Alton make ice cream and sorbet... it died, didn't even make it through my first batch of sorbet

Then I found a hand crank model with a freezable core. I've made frozen yogurt using Alton's recipe but changing it to blueberry, one of Emeril's ice cream recipes (chocolate) and orange sorbet again following Alton's recipe but changing the fruit. All were excellent, if I do say so myself

I didn't make any last summer because my freezer was packed full and didn't have room to put the core in

The Blue Bell factory is about 50 miles from here, and it is real hard to beat their ice cream, in fact haven't found any better. They have so many flavors to chose from and cost wise its cheaper than trying to make my own.

I'm embarrassed to say I have five. They're all the type that have the freezable core. Two are electric and three are hand-cranks in various sizes. I love making ice cream but mine isn't as good as the premium brands you can buy but I do love to make sorbets and sherbet-type frozen desserts. I've even thrown a couple of cartons of fruit yogurt into the small one, start cranking and within 15 minutes have a wonderful healthy frozen dessert.

The Private Selection from Kroger is very good and it's priced reasonably for the quality.

Well it's dang sure not cheap to make. But it surely is exciting to make, especially for the kids.

It can be quite expensive. I bought an ice cream cookbook at William Sonoma. Nice recipes, but some of the ingredients are alot of money.
Did splurge for Vanilla Bean. Youngest son and I made some fresh vanilla ice cream around Easter time. It was heavenly!!
