Watching Your Budget Doesn't Mean You Can't Enjoy Steak

Even when you are economizing, there's no need to give up favorite foods, like steak, entirely. One of the best ways to stretch your protein without sacrificing flavor is to make it into a sandwich.

Cubed Steak in gravy is very cheap. Kinda ups the calories though with the gravy. Many things that are better for you come with a higher price tag.

I don't often buy steak, I save it for a once in a while treat when out to eat. This week my store had $4.99 ny strip, and last week $4.99 porterhouse, really nice looking steaks and very good, so I stocked up and vacuum sealed them, I see it this way, we can have a nice steak dinner for around $5 and some change instead of the $20 for a strip at our regular place plus tip and beverage.

If you don't mind cooking it that day our store has on sale all kinds of meats that should be sold by that day. You just have to check it to make sure it doesn't look funky, but all the times we've had it its been good.

Ours does the same thing except it usually has the next days date on it, usually at least a 30% markdown. I either eat it that day or vacuum seal it and freeze, always a good deal.
