Rep Power: 10 | Seems like there is a new reason every day, and it keeps going up.

Rep Power: 1 | I just wonder if this isn't natures way of eliminating the weaker members of the species. Seems like some people speculate on a lot of stuff without taking into account the facts of a rise and fall of population according to what nature can support. Yes we could go off the deep end and let our imagination run wild and go what happens if we lose all of them or look to see if maybe the decline is natural and we will see a increase come back again. You know it is kind of like some years there are a lot of dead skunks in the road, and other years you do not see but a few or should I say smell, but anyways just a thought to ponder in your spare time when, there is nothing else to think about.

Rep Power: 10 | Now is the time for the hummingbirds to step up and take control of the pollinating business.

Rep Power: 10 | We have lots of hummingbirds as well. Yesterday, when I was watering the apple tree and tomatoes, I was so happy to see the bees busy pollenating the plants.
Lots of tomatoes have now popped out. Good thing as I really didn't want to do it myself with a Q-tip! Had to do that one year and it was very tedious work. I'm so thankful for the little bees.

Rep Power: 10 | I have a hummingbird feeder on my kitchen window. They come and drink the nectar and look at me while I am washing dishes. They are vicious about trying to keep a feeder to themselves though. Some will sit in the tree not far from the window all day trying to chase off anyone else that tries to take a drink.
Wouldn't you hate for the major purpose of your existence to be be protecting your food.
We have lots of bumble bees here. I haven't seen as many honey bees, but the bumblebees seem to be doing the job fine on their own.

Rep Power: 0 | I have 4 hummingbird feeders at the windows along the back of my house. They are very territorial little birds. It is fun to watch them!
I went to the grocery store yesterday, and I bought honey for the first time in over a year. I could not believe how expensive it was! In my area, there have been cases of bee keepers having their hives stolen. Colony Collapse has been a big problem in Maryland and Virginia for 2 years now. |

Rep Power: 10 | We haven't been hit by the high honey prices out here. In fact, all the farms carry various varieties of honey and they are about $3.00-4.00 a bottle. Is that high? I really don't know as I don't buy it all that often.
