Starbucks identifies 50 stores set for closing

Starbucks identifies 50 stores set for closing

Sites include one on West 167th Street in Country Club Hills, North York Street in Elmhurst

Starbucks Corp. has named 50 of the 600 stores it plans to close, including two in Illinois: one on West 167th Street in Country Club Hills, and the other on North York Street in Elmhurst.

The Seattle company also has targeted eight California stores, including one site in San Diego and another location in Laguna Beach. In Minnesota, seven shops will shutter, while five will close in Texas and four in Alabama.

Also on the list are stores in Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and West Virginia.

The sites will shut down by the end of this month.

Notice no stores in Oregon or Washington are closing. We are wired out here!!

We have four Starbucks in our city and the population is only 16,000. This doesn't include the independent coffee shops and there at least four of those as well. Coffee is one thing we will never run out of around here.

Oops...just saw our new population sign, we now have over 25,000! When did 9,000 more people move here? Where was I???

If I go to the next town over, which is just 2 miles from here, they have 5 Starbucks that I know of. I would bet there are more, but I don't get too far into that town. Just do things on the outskirts but I'm never without coffee.

I think closing a Starbucks in Washington would be considered grand heresy.
