Rep Power: 10 | Let's Talk Food Let's Talk Food Comments 0 | Recommend 0 My obsession with cooking magazines
August 19, 2008 - 11:00AM
Cathey Noell All of my family and friends know I have an obsession with cookbooks and cooking magazines. I actually had to scale back my subscriptions for a lot of the magazines I was receiving because I really wasn't using any of the recipes. And some of them contained really different recipes, which were interesting but I had hard time trying to find ingredients.
Then there were some magazines that had recipes so long that it would take half a day to assemble them. My other problem is I just cannot bear the thought of throwing a magazine out. I hate to admit this but I have magazines stored in boxes dating back to 1995. Slowly but surely I try to go through them once in a while and determine if I really need to keep them or toss them. Rep Power: 10 | I have a ton of Bon Appetit and Gourmet magazines in my cookbook cabinet. I really do need to go through them and recycle most of them. Maybe I should cut out the recipes I want...I don't know it seems like such a huge project!
It's definitely a rainy season project, which is coming up in the next two months.

Rep Power: 2 | I have had to put them in boxes and have them stored in the attic, I need a room just for my cookbooks and magazine. In my design for the new house I will have book cases built in the breakfast area for all of them.

Rep Power: 3 | I subscribe to 3 cooking magazine and as for my cookbooks... well, I'm at the point where I need a shoehorn to get anymore in on my shelves.
Use to have a big box of recipes I had clipped, printed off from blogs, etc. and never could find the one I was looking for in the mess. So, after seeing the ad for this a few times in one of my cooking mags I ordered it. NEAT Receipts Scanner - Manage Receipts Organizer - Call: 866-NEAT-REC Got rid of all that paper clutter and I've got my recipes neatly arranged. I put them on a DVD in PDF format, so it makes it simple to find what I looking for. |

Rep Power: 10 | I made a whole book out of the recipes I have printed, clipped and created. Everything has a tabbed section which makes it easy to find what I want. Yes, it was a lot of work, but so worth it. A nice rainyday project!
