Oh I want a Mexican Coke!!
There's also kosher Coke that is sold around Passover, its made with sugar too. I've never seen it, but I heard about it.

I think the Dr. Pepper factory also sales some sugar sweetened Dr. Pepper too. I know someone who visited the factory in Texas and he got one. But this was years ago, don't know if they still do it now.

Forgot about that. Yeah high fructose corn syrup is a cheaper way to sweeten things and is in just about EVERYTHING we eat, from BBQ sauce to ketcup to fuit-flavored yogurt. Sugar, they claim, is too high.

Everything in the stores were bought there by a fuel-powered vehicle. Wich means that since the price of fuel has supposedly gone up, so has store merchandise.

Sort of a ripple affect.
I am trying to eliminate high fructose corn syrup from my diet, and it is actually getting easier every day. I am not much of a soda drinker any more, but an occasional Mexican Coke or a Jones soda hit the spot without the corn syrup. Simply Lemonade also has real sugar and it is very good.

With studies showing that high fructose corn syrup may be harmful to us, manufacturers seem to be changing their products, making it easier to eliminate it. Heck I even buy organic catchup to avoid it!

But those organic foods cost more! Leaving struggling families, especially those with young children still living at home and trying to make ends meet stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Yes organics are more expensive, but my store has been introducing many store brand organics at really good prices, I think that I pay $1.69 for my organic catchup. I am not struggling so I can spend a little more. If someone has cooking skills they can avoid a lot of the bad stuff by cooking from scratch instead of buying lots of easy prepared foods, and often save a bundle in the process.

I don't by those premade foods either. I make my own - put simply and principally, to control the amount of salt. Those foods are way too blasted salty for me!!

For a husband and wife who are both working and have small children in school, they are often coming home in the afternoon to be with the kids and are most often in a rush trying to get dinner on the table so they usually resort to premade foods like Hambuger Helper, Banquet meals orRice-A-Roni, Banquet frozen fried Chicken, which all have tons os sodium and chemicals in them, not to mention transfats. Yuck!!

Dublin Dr Pepper

I'm pretty sure it's available around here (Dallas/Ft. Worth), but I am not a Dr. Pepper fan, so I don't look for it. While it's not up to the "fire" status of Pepsi on my cola dislike list, Dr. Pepper is not something I drink if I have a choice.

I can't be entirely objective, because I don't have children, but.... There are days where I am pretty tired, but still manage to whip up something for dinner, the secret for me is to have dishes that are easy to whip up. I keep roasted chicken which I have pulled off the bone and vacuum sealed for quick and easy meals, I have made quesadillas, Caesar wraps, roast chicken with gravy, pot pie etc... with it. I vacuum seal chicken breast, and always keep good seasoning blends around, throw the chicken in a contact grill, make some rice (I sautée garlic and onion, and replace the water with chicken stock) some frozen veg in the microwave and dinner is done. All of these can be done in the time it takes to make hamburger helper, and because I buy all of my meat on sale for around 1/2 price it is pretty inexpensive. I hate taking the time to peel potatoes, so I use red potatoes just cut-em up and boil, add a little milk and butter and done. I have to push myself to do it sometimes, a year ago we were eating entirely too much take out and our health was taking a beating for it.

I think what keeps many moms and dads from cooking is that they don't know where to start and recipes can often be daunting, I would love to be able to teach a class on easy economical cooking.

That would make a great show for FN... not only for busy moms and dads, but for newlyweds and kids who are moving away from home and just don't know where to start besides opening a can or a box.

There WAS such a show on years back on the FN in the mid '90s called Feeding Your Family on $99.00 a Week. Its host was Michelle Urvater. Anyone remember that one?

There's a segment on the Today Show right now telling parents how to get the kids to eat healthy when the kids are dining out.

My cable company (where I lived then) didn't start carrying FN until the later 1990s so I never saw it.
