Rep Power: 10 | Wow, our Thanksgiving is next month already. While I was sitting at the table making a Pomander, it brought back memories of Thanksgiving and my dad. We would sit at the little kitchen table and make Pomanders around Thanksgiving time so they would be ready to hang at Christmas.
I would always help him with Thanksgiving dinner. That was his day to make the dinner. Mom prepared it almost everyday, so holidays Dad and I would take over. None of my sisters or brothers were really interested, but I loved it! What great memories he left with me. And, I'm carrying on the tradition of making Pomanders. He may no longer be with us, but his spirit lives within me.

Rep Power: 2 | I always feels a little closer to loved ones that have passed when I make their recipes during the holidays. I always make my Nana's pork stuffing, the flavor of that just brings me back to my childhood, it is a family favorite. My partner's dad used to make a praline yam dish, he used the recipe off the can of Princella yams, I had to track down the recipe online after he passed because he never wrote it down, but i have it now and make it for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Then on Christmas morning in '04, one of my younger brothers died! Talk about a sad Cristmas and funeral, that was really heartbreaking and painful to lose my closest brother!! He was only 43. |

Rep Power: 10 | My mother-in-law died a couple of years ago on Christmas Eve. What is amazing is all the siblings got snowed in and no flights were leaving, so they were all with Mom that Christmas Eve. Some things are meant to be.
