Katie Lee Joel On The Burger Backlash

Katie Lee Joel on the Burger Backlash

Yesterday I had the lovely opportunity of speaking with cookbook author and burger queen Katie Lee Joel over the phone. She was calling from New York City to set the record straight about her Burger Bash win. According to her critics, the Logan County Burger, which won fair and square, is not a burger at all, but rather a popular sandwich known as a patty melt. To find out what the soft-spoken, charming chef had to say, read more.

I've always thought of a patty melt as a type of burger. It's a got a ground beef pattie in it, so it's a burger.

Got to agree, if its got a gound beef patty at it's core, it's a type of burger, regardless of what the popular name may be. Someone is straining at gnats. Heck, I've seen competitions where lamb was used, and it still qualified as a burger.
