Real Sugar Pepsi & Mt. Dew Coming Soon!
Coming Soon: Pepsi Throwback, Mountain Dew Throwback
Feb 9th, 2009 by Steve
Thanks to the eagle-eyed forum members over at BevNET, we have news of sugar-sweetened versions of some PepsiCo products coming soon.

Per Beverage Industry magazine, the names will be Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback:In the middle of April, PBV [Pepsi Bottling Ventures] also will begin distributing Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback, which features those brands formulated with sugar.
This is a big deal since mainstream soft drinks in the United States are sweetened with High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). Typically, the only way to get soda from the "big guys" with real sugar is to import it (i.e., Mexican Coke) or wait till Passover (Kosher Coke, Kosher Pepsi).

I would love to try them.

I hope Coke copy cats this one. I'm a diehard Coke gal.
Last spring when I visited the Atlanta area, I looked for the sugar sweetened Coke. I had heard you can find it in stores down there. No luck

My Costco has the real sugar Coke in the long-neck glass bottles. You can get it by the case.

I think the Kroger at Ashton Place had it in the Mexican food section for a while. I don't know if they still do. I will try to remember to look.
I prefer pepsi, I will be interested to see how well it does.

I like Mt. Dew, but for cola I'm a Coca-cola drinker.

They have some soft drinks from other countries and some bottled fruit soft drink kind of things. I think coke was in there at one point in time. That was before the redo of the store, but I know they still have some bottled drinks so they may still have it too.

Just read in another article that rollout day for the real sugar Pepsi and Mt. Dew is April 20th. That's a Monday, when the mega-marts (in this area) are restocked by all the vendors after the weekend. I'll be sure to check for them that week.

I'm pretty sure we did taste tests about this a few months ago. I seem to recall them calling it Pepsi Natural back then. I think this is probably a better choice for the name. (Unless it's an entirely different product. I don't drink pepsi, so I don't know all of their products.)
