Does anyone have, and use, a Julia Child cookbook? I heard they are now back on the best seller list, due to the movie.
Yesterday, I pulled out my very old French Chef Cookbook and my sister mentioned how popular Julia's books are right now. She asked when and where I got my little, very worn, paperback version. (It's held together with tape and a rubberband.)
Believe it or not, my dad got four books as a premium at the gas station back in the very early 70's!
Remember when gas stations would give you gifts for filling up? Many times it was drinking glasses.
I only recall one of the other books being Italian food and don't know what the other two were. I'm sure they are tucked away in the back of the cookbook cabinet.
I have Mastering the Art of French Cooking (vol 1) I found it a few years ago at a used bookstore for $4. I almost squealed because it was a 1961 copy!
There were people at the Books A Million asking for it today. They told them they didn't know if they could get all the volumes and just the first one might take more than 30 days.
Went to see the movie "Julie and Julia". It was such a relaxing and enjoyable 2 hours. No violence, no stress and great laughs. I recommend it. A perfect afternoon.
We are going to go see it and go out to eat. I remember watching "Big Night" and craving Italian food after watching it. That is one of my all time favorite food movies.
Can't wait to see the movie--I've been on call for work and unable to get to the theater just yet so I'm looking forward to MS as my hero!
No surprise here I'm sure--I own each and every one of Julia's books and several of them I had her sign when I met her on a few occasions. ::::squeal! Her books are so wonderful and amazing and Mastering Vol I is truly the bible if you are going to make one hardcore purchase.
