Food Network's Giada De Laurentiis is used to egg, gorgonzola and pancetta sandwiches or Chicken Milanese with tomato and fennel sauce -- and unfortunately for her, an in-flight dry turkey sandwich just ain't cutting it.

Yesterday at LAX, the "Everyday Italian" host told us she loves plane food ... but the sarcasm in her voice said otherwise.

I didn't think they served food on planes anymore...oh wait, yes, you have to buy it.

I remember the days when First Class was a fabulous....the wines setup in the front of the cabin, they would carve the meat before serving it to you and they have REAL silverware.

Those days are long gone.
