Stollen from the Bluberry Hill restaurant in St. Loius, MO
They've been making them for more years than Giada been cooking.
Shame on Giada for taking credit for this dish.

Nothing new about the recipe to me. Out here you find it in a lot of restaurants and have for years. It seems to be a pretty basic recipe.

The Olive Garden used to have it years ago, but it's not on the menu here anymore. There are lots of copycat recipes for that one on the internet though.

How good do copycat recipes tend to be? I always wanted to try making the orange chicken from panda express at home, and several months ago when I looked there were recipes out there for it.

I have tried some good ones and some bad ones. I think sometimes someone will try it at home and think they have it close and it gets copied all over the internet by people who do not try the recipe first. Then you have a bad one out there. But I have tried a few that were good. Chili's Fajitas was one I tried that was very good.

In St. Louis they are called "toasted ravioli" - even though they are fried

the site below provides some interesting info

Foods of Saint Louis MO

The same recipe is in Giada's Everyday Pasta cookbook and she does acknowlege St. Louis in her intro to the recipe.

I grew up in St. Louis and have eaten a lot of toasted ravioli in my lifetime - yum!

If you are ever in St. Louis visit an area called "The Hill" - an authentic Italian neighborhood with great Italian restaurants
