Is anyone's life better than Guy Fieri's? Entertainment Weekly
by Annie Barrett First of all, pictured is some potentially useful proof that if the Food Network ever misplaces 'Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives' host Guy ...
While I do agree that Guy is a dork for wearing his sunglasses backward, I still can't help but love him. It's sad how polarized the public is on him. He's a lot more fun than snarky Flobby Bay. I LOVED his reaction to the mofungo recipe on "The Best Thing I Ever Ate". The way he talked about how he kept sneaking bites, lol.
The days of snooty and haughty chefs are coming to an end. I want more fun and humor. They don't have to be over the top like Guy, I even like Aaron, Chris, and Michael.
I think for what Guy does his personality couldn't be any better. He's in a relaxed atmosphere and it works well for him. But I do like to see some formality though. I remember when they did the last "Next Iron Chef" and they were going to a very nice home to prepare a meal and John Besh showed up in a sports coat and the other guys looked like they were showing up to paint a house. I like to see some class when the occasion calls for it. But Besh being military he probably has more of a sense of what to wear when things are more formal.
Admittedly, I'm not Guy fan. I honestly don't get the whole grunge rock 'n roll foodie thing. Relaxed is wonderful. Casual has it's place obviously. In that vein I think we're still best served by someone that has some real cooking chops and knowledge and I just don't feel that from Guy. Michael Symon has some rock 'n roll skills but he's a bit dour unfortunately. I lived in Santa Rosa CA for a time (where Guy's restaurants reside) and I won't go into broad detail about his food.
Mostly, I think the dude fell in it and came out with a gold watch and TFN pushes him to the point of distraction. I'm on Guy overload. I prefer Bobby, LOL!

I like Guy and Bobby both, but I have to agree with TucsonFoodie about Guy being a dork for wearing his sunglasses backwards. I have to LOL sometimes on "Big Bite" when Guy has some of his friends on there and they're all dressed the same. Sunglasses on backwards, arm band, short pants, bling, etc. Its like they're wearing a club uniform.
