That is really cool. I wonder if cooking projects are up at the local county 4-H fairs? I have always liked watching them.

Btw...does anyone enter cooking, canned, etc. items at county fairs? It's a cool part of the fair.

Think I've been to the state fair twice in over 20+ years of living here. Mainly because it is always so incredibly hot outside and that makes for an uncomfortable day.

I've never entered any cooking contests but they do look interesting.

I have taken the kids to the fair several years. They like to see the animals. No competition for me though.

I used to go to the county fair when I was a teenager. The County Fairgrounds are located not too far from the beach, so we'd go to the beach and then to the fair. I know that they do have cooking competitions, as well as livestock judging competitions, but I've never entered anything. Now I feel kind of like BerryBaby. It's hot, humid, sticky and uncomfortable.

I have always wanted to go to the Florida Strawberry Festival. I tried to convince my husband to take me this year, but it is kind of far and we just didn't have the time.

We used to go to the fair, every year when I was growing up, showed hawgs ( had registered Berkshire herd), showed horses, sister entered the sewing thing, I always would walk through the produce barn every day, it had the pies in it. We were big time 4-H and FFA. Ours was a week long and we had dorms on the fair grounds we stayed in. But it is no longer like it was, no they just bring the animals for a day or two show and leave. Times just have changed and security issues would not allow things to be like they use too.

They should hold them during the spring or fall when the temps are more comfortable. Bet they would get a much larger turnout IMO.
