Cilantro, Ina doesn't like it... Are there any other herbs she won't use?
She actually said she hates Cilantro on an episode last year I think. She never really makes Mexican or Spanish dishes come to think of it. Have you ever seen her make enchiladas or such?

There are those of us that cilantro tastes like soap
it is a really strong flavor to us, I hear that it is a genetic thing. I am a bit disappointed that cilantro seems to be making it in to so many dishes, the Cheesecake Factory puts it in so many dishes. I once thought that I got an occasional bowl or dish that wasn't rinsed properly, but a couple years ago I realized that it was cilantro. I found the Ihatecilantro website recently and felt vindicated!

I can take a very small amount of it in somethings. It's not one of my favorites though. Some people go wild with it in salsa and I think it's a bit much. Normally if I have something that calls for it I will use it dried and grind it into a pinch of powder just to barely add a hint of it.

Wow! I had no idea. I use it in my salads, mexican foods (all), chinese food, rice, etc. Maybe it's an aquired taste. I was raised in San Diego by a romanian and a ukranian but I developed a taste for it and I actually have to grow it in my garden to keep enough on hand.

I used to put it on one of my sandwiches from work... I couldn't really taste though.

Maybe it is an acquired thing, I never heard of it much until I moved to Texas, I like it to me it is what makes Pico de Gillo , with out it just would not be. I happen to enjoy the flavor it adds, to much can be over powering, kind of like spilling to much oregano in your tomato sauce. But I kind of think it is that way with any spice or herb. to much does not make a good thing.

I don't really like cilantro all that much. I don't mind it TOOOO much in salsas, as long as it is super fresh.
But yeah, she doesn't really make any Mexican dishes. Does Paella count...although, that is more Spanish.~Aimee

We use and like it. Have a bunch growing this year. I'm going to freeze in ice cubes, what do you think?
