Cooking with The Barefoot Contessa
Ina Garten's got plenty of fame, but it says more than anything about her, in my book, to say that my mom has her first five cookbooks and still has listed the new "
Barefoot Contessa, Back To Basics" on her holiday wish list. Mom is a super cook and a fairly tough cookbook critic, so I expected her to say, when she was in town cooking the bulk of our Thanksgiving meal last week, that she'd had enough Garten. No way. She just asked me to pass along to the Contessa, when we chatted, mom's particular compliments on Garten's angel food cake and her roasted parsnips.
