Amanda Freitag one of the arrogant chiefs on Chopped is now a competitor. I like the polite verbal slapdown Alton gave her with her having the easy ingredient eel.

I would say though that if they felt one ingredient was so much easier than the others than it should not have been included.

Not really. Just think of it this way. The easier your ingredient the more you have to do with it. The guy with cocks combs and the guy with grasshoppers both have to do less to their ingredient compared to how much she has to do with the eel. On the other hand it is easier to do things with eel. So it balances in the end.

Maybe its my bias against Chopped but they seemed to give her more face time than the other contestants. She was first contestant zoomed in on when they walked in. Also she always seems to have that arrogant face on that she wears when judging on Chopped.

What throws me is I thought only the biggest heavy weights get a chance to be Iron Chef. People who are world renown and have run their own sucessful restaurants. Her bio says she has worked at another persons restaurant that won a 2 star review. Sure does not seem to stack of to Iron Chef credentials.

Maybe its hard for them to find truly qualified chefs that have decent screen presense.

Finally were my eyes deceiving me or were some of the other contestant also former contestants on Chopped?

One more point. I think its a mistake to have Jefferey and the woman he spars with so much both as judges in Next Iron Chef. Either they run their schtick too much or they really do not like eithe other at all. Neither one I think works, the show should not be about the judges poking at each other every week and disagreeing over everything.

Jeffery, seems to always disagree with everybody at some point, which makes it seem almost real, I do not know of two people, who exactly like everything they eat. I can attest to that, try cooking for my wife lol ! for me if they make a point, and another disagrees with it, they need to back it up with some credible testaments. But we do need more cooking ! can not pick up much of anything with these short segments of everybody at once.

If it balances out though then its not the easy ingredient.

I'm surprised that Jeffery doesn't disagree with himself sometimes.

With her it is different. Any time she is on Iron Chef I can see a difference in Jeffery compared to when there are other judges. She goes out of her way to contradict and irritate him and he obviously goes out of his way to lash back.
