I looked at BlueStar along with Wolf, 5 Star, Viking, Thermador, DCS and Dacor when picking my new range when we remodeled. And none of them held a candle to the Dacor Epicure. Dacor Kitchen Appliances: Epicure 30" Dual Fuel Range The only thing was I wish I had had room for a 36" or 48" range.
But, to be fair... BlueStar didn't have this model of range available when I was looking 3 years ago. Dacor was the only at the time that had the simmer/sear burner and some of the other features that this BlueStar has. I guess BlueStar has seen how well the Epicure has done for Dacor and had to come up with their own version. Most of all, cook from the heart, and you’ll never be lonely when the dinner bell rings! - Chef Robert Irvin

Dacor was making the professional series of ranges for the GE Monogram line when I bought mine. It has since switched over to Fisher Paykel.

Rick Bayless has been using 5 Star for years, watched some of his old shows on PBS, when his daughter was little, he had them then, she is starting college this year, so it has been a while.

I love these simmer burners like the Dacor (and now the BlueStar) have. They're great for long slow simmers of items like stews, pasta sauces, soups, ect. without worrying about them getting burned. You don't have to babysit them as much. Also, I can melt butter and chocolate on it, doing away with having to set up a double-boiler.
