The Next Iron Chef Season Two Episode Six (Spoilers included in this topic)

Premiering Sunday, November 8th at 9pm
“Episode Six”
The four remaining chefs board an American Airlines flight and travel to Tokyo, Japan. The chefs begin a culinary adventure into the world of umami (a Japanese term for 'delicious' that is used to describe the fifth taste). First the chefs arrive at a traditional Japanese yakitori grill restaurant where they are asked to use Kikkoman soy sauce to infuse umami into their dishes and enhance the flavor profiles of a variety of ingredients. Iron Chef Morimoto arrives as a surprise judge for this test. Then the chefs travel through Tokyo to the most renowned culinary academy in the city where they meet Dr. Yukio Hattori, the original Iron Chef Japanese culinary commentator. Dr. Hattori opens the doors to his academy where the chefs are challenged to use different cooking styles in a test that highlights the five tastes: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami. The next chef is eliminated.

It would have been nice if Fukui-san, Ohta, and Chairman Kaga could have been there, too.

Why are they spending so much time in the challenges working on food from different countries (Mexico, India, Japan), usually on Iron Chef the individual chef cooks their own style of food.

I guess some ingredients could be specific to a particular country or cooking style. tomatillos come to mind, but I am sure there must be more.

So at the judging the guy said Chef Freitag did a really good job on the food, then when it came to elimination it seems like they hated everything. What gives?

I think it will be Chef Garces.

I don't know if I'm that into watching it anymore though, I'm not really that excited about anyone thats left. I suppose I'll watch to talk about it on here though.
