This episode was quite entertaining, what with the rookie slant and all. Symon is certainly the chatty one during the prep parts!
I thought for sure that Chef Ricky had it won, hands down, no question, myself. Or at least would be very very close.
Especially after Michael's "oops" of the grappa spill into the stuffing, and the dropped egg. The wifey wasn't so sure and we were both
riveted to the final segment with the scoring.
Ricky's menu came straight from home, mostly right from mama's book. It looked simple, unpretentious, conservative, but well planned and thought out. To me, it was all about the things that define "fine dining". Winnah, winnah, winnah.
OTOH, Michael's menu was much more bold and all over the board, taking some pallet risks that might have easily backfired on a different set of judges. That he won by 11 points was a gift for a rookie IMHO.
But, overall---a great show. If you like the series, go out of your way to watch this one, and you won't be dissatisfied.
