I seen something with Mario, where he was talking about the dishes, he said he would come up with five dishes no matter what the ingredient was, and make those five dishes. He would just incorporate the ingredient into them. Which I thought was interesting. Not sure how you would do ribs if the ingredient was fish though, guess fish and ribs ? thats why he a chef and I am not.

I remember that too... maybe on the Food Network Unwrapped episode?
He said something like there would be a soup course, a main course, etc.

Those guys and gals on ICA (both the Iron Chefs and challengers) really so you what it takes to be a chef. I started watching because Alton was the commentator, but I now like it for both what it shows about being a chef and Alton!

I think the ICJ was superior over all in terms of production and how they did the dishes (all had to be plated, not just one plating). The pilot ICA was much more like the Japanese version, but I think FN just didn't want to pay that bill.

Its on FLN right now, but for some crazy reason they took out the original music. So you have the same translators, but all the music it sounds like some guy on a casio. Even when their Italian chef comes up, who has a string quartet playing live, they dub in the casio music. its rather weird.

They also did a a MUCH better job with 'the chairman'. The guy on ICA is just pathetic, and I don't know if its his fault or they just don't let him say anything and keep him because its in the contract with ICJ. I know its all acting but the chairman for ICJ really does seem to be leading the show, has incitful things to say, and can even pull off insane looking outfits and make it work. The ICA guy just over acts his 3 lines per show and thats it.

Only at Easter!

He doesn't seem as natural as the original master.
