Spiral String Potato maker ?

Any body have any ideas how to make really fine string potato's to deep fry, without paying $150 to $200 for a hand spiral cutter ? I have looked, for cheaper one, but do not find any, thought my Kitchen aid would have an attachment, you can not even buy one. Must be something someplace, that will do this. I hate just cutting up a bunch of frys and piling them in the center I want that stringy pile of frys. Any ideas ? or am I going to have to purchase that hand cranked stringer.

If you have a mandoline you can make match sticks. An apple peeler would make strings, but I don't think they would spiral. Apple Peeler/Corer | Williams-Sonoma

The ones look like something that might do the trick, the one from sur la table, and the Benriner. I have a mandolin and can do fine match sticks, but I am looking for that bird nest look. Ok so I am picky lol.

I saw the one from Sur la Table had three cutters for different size strings. I might have to get one of those myself because I love curly fries.

Just clink on the "zoom / additional views" under the picture of the slicer.
