So they paid you for that? And you took it?

No they didn't give me anything. They just registered and posted it for free. I would PREFER they paid for a legitimate ad on this site.

I have had the Handi-Vac since Christmas and I "LOVE" it too. It really does keep fresh vegetables fresher longer and it does keep freezer burn away from meats.
The only thing is you need to have your meat dry so the juices don't flow into the Handi-Vac.
I put a paper towel in with my vegetables to pick up any moisture.
I reuse the bags if I use them to seal vegetables.

That's what's so nice about new products on the market. Some are happy with what they're currently using and some prefer new and improved.

I haven't seen the ad yet but I'll keep an eye out for it. It sounds interesting. I have to admit I do have a Food Saver but I haven't used it in a while. Even though it does an excellent, whiz-bang job of keeping foods fresher longer in the freezer, I just hate having to lug the thing out.

I am the same way with the food saver. I keep telling myself I will use a few slices of cheese and then go back later and seal the majority of it left in the package. But I usually forget. If I am going to do it I have to do it right then or I don't get it done.

DO NOT use this device if you are looking for long term freezer storage. I was very careful with sealing and not overfilling bags, and I would say that about 60%-70% of the bags leaked and filled with air over a few days time. I would re-seal them and of course, they would leak again. I investigated the vacu-seal point and the circular plastic piece around the valve was coming apart from the bag on nearly every one. As much as I hate paying out top dollar for the FoodSaver bags, you get what you pay for. The cheaper Reynolds Handi-Vac has cost me much more in terms of freezer burned meats.

Oh. Have I got a story to tell you guys about this no-good worthless piece of junk?!

1. Bought it last December when it first came out on the market, or not too long after.

2. Thought that it was one of the best things to come along in years because it worked so well at first!

3. In February or March, the batteries had to be changed because they were weak. Bought new batteries for it.

4. Two weeks later, batteries were weak again. Had to replace them again!

5. Two weeks after that, THOSE batteries were weak as well!!

6. Batteries were again needed in another two weeks. At this point, I was becoming very aggravated!!

7 Replaced the batteries AGAIN two weeks later!!

8. Replaced them yet again two weeks after that!! Then the blasted piece of junk had stopped vacuum sealing the bags for some ungodly reason!!! At this point, I was fed up again, and threw the whole thing in the trash!!!

10. Even bought another unit because they were so cheap. That one never worked at all!!! It came on, but wouldn't even take the air out of the bags!! Tossed that one out also!! I spent more money buying blasted batteries for both of these crappy units than for the units themselves!!!

11. Long story short, put simply, this worthless piece of junk is NOT worth the money spent buying it, or even the time spent looking at it!!!

12. And yes Scarnucci, you're right!! Sure enough, the bags began losing their air-tight seal and air was let into some of the bags!!

13. Went right out and happily bought another Food Saver to replace the Kenmore unit that had stopped working which I had thrown out in exchange for THIS piece of junk!! This Food Saver is new and improved with lots more featues and works great!!

You're right!! As the old saying goes, you DO get what you pay for.

Bottom line; This no-good worthless piece of garbage will NEVER be bought by me again!!!!!!!!! Ever!!

Mine still works fine, I have had a few and I mean very few bags go bad, I have bought maybe 10 boxes of gallon bags so far, I have replaced the batteries twice since december, and I used cheap dollar store batteries.

There must be some quality variance with these things.

The problems with this piece of junk seem to start right after the batteries are changed for the first time. But the 2nd one that I bought just didn't work properly at all.

Took too long to vacuum seal the bags, and even then, all of the air wasn't out!! I'm so done with this piece of junk!!!

Maybe they should have made it with an electrical cord if it draws so much power.
