Rep Power: 3 | I just bought the Ziploc Vacuum Sealer just for kicks and giggles, to see if it worked.
It should, and I'm confident that it won't give me any headaches like the Reynolds unit did, because no batteries are needed for this unit. Ever!! |

Rep Power: 10 | I am tempted to get one just for cheese, no one wants to cut open the foodsaver bags but me because they don't want to seal them back. |

Rep Power: 3 | Yeah, that IS the main drawback with the FoodSaver bags. The machine is needed to reseal the bags.
But the Ziploc unit IS ALSO good for stuff that can be resealed instantly without having to drag out the FoodSaver unit for every little thing. Speaking of cheese, I just bought some Swiss cheese, but I think it's already vaccum sealed until it's opened.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the FoodSaver, but I'm also like your family is about having to reseal the FoodSaver bags.
But try it out. There is far less to go wrong, and there are no mechenical parts to break down, as with the Reynolds unit!
So far, I like the Ziploc unit!! Wasn't going to buy it as first, because I didn't want those same blasted headaches that are associated with the Reynolds unit. All of that agravation has been put to bed, since this unit is strictly hand-operated. And it even comes aprt for easy cleaning. |

Rep Power: 3 | The Reynolds unit didn't work half the time, and I figured that since the batteries constantly had to be replaced and wore weak every two weeks, the motor must not have been at full operating power - possibly causing the bags' inability to get a complete air-tight vacuum seal, if that makes any sense at all.
With the Ziploc unit, as you may already know, you are using your hand to push and pull on the handle, which pulls out the air on every up-stroke, and it is designed so that each time the handle is push down again, the air that was driven out of the bag doesn't ever get back in.
Small and meek as this gadget may look to some, it really is pretty powerful and vacuum seals the bags very well. In fact, I've already replaced a few of the reynolds bags that have worked themselves loose. So far, the Ziploc bags seem to be holding up well.
Once the Reynolds bags come loose or are opened at all, I can transfer any leftover food over to the Ziploc vacuum seal bags. |
