Rep Power: 1 | Well tried the waffle plates this morning, and am a bit dissapointed. The waffle plates are too shallow, and the lid too heavy, so you get very thin and flat waffles.
I am working on a solution! After eating our waffle "cookies" (they were tasty but crunchy!) I looked at the machine and channeled Alton Brown. Ah ha, i had it, I took two chopsticks and layed them on the two sides of the bottom grill plates on the raised edge, this kept the lid slightly raised creating a little thicker waffle, about the thickness of an eggo, good enough for me, as I don't make waffles enough to warrant a waffle maker.
Here is a picture of the first batch of waffles before the chop stick trick.

Rep Power: 10 | I prefer them a bit thicker as well. The belgian ones are nice. My husband bought me one than makes little heartshaped waffles. They are cute, but rather thin.

Rep Power: 10 | Don't eat waffles enough to buy a maker. I keep Trader Joe's blueberry waffles in the freezer, just in case I get a craving. That's maybe once a year. Needless to say, I end up tossing them out.
Those waffles do look good, Bakerman. Almost like you could use them for a dessert with strawberries.

We have had a Trader Joe's for a little over a year, I find it fun to roam around looking to see what is new. A friend of mine told me that our Trader Joe's is huge compared to the ones he has been to in LA California, so maybe we are lucky!

Rep Power: 10 | Yes they do look nice. I have a gift card to spend and I am thinking of getting one of those grill/griddle pans that will fit over the rests for my grill grates on my range top. I could use the flat side for things like pancakes and the grill side for paninis.
Yours makes very nice markings. Spaced very well.

Rep Power: 10 | I still haven't bought this but I see they are on sale for mothers day. And Kohl's is saying you get an extra discount if you buy before 1 PM tomorrow.

Rep Power: 0 | IT DID IT WITH FLAIR ALL RIGHT.
I used this machine three times and my wife literally ripped me a new one for not turning it off. HOWEVER, IT WAS TURNED OFF!! After only 3 uses the off switch broke and didn't turn off. I do have 2 small children and this have seriously burned them.
After using it this past weekend, I turned it off and opened it up to allow the griddles to cool before washing. About 30 minutes later when my wife went to take the griddles out to wash, she was almost burned as she felt the heat just before grabbing them to remove for washing. You can only imagine what she said next.
So after unplugging the unit, an hour later after the griddles were cold, we plugged the unit back in with the switch in the OFF position. She started heating up again.
Its going back to the store which I'm not happy about because its a 50 mile round trip. Hey Food Network, how about covering my gas expense. I will attempt to exchange it for another unit because this is supposed to replace my grill in our travel trailer. Small, compact, does it all. Worked great.....When it worked!! |

Rep Power: 3 | Well that doesn't sound good bayshoreinc.
Waffle irons. Sorry but I just thought of something. When I was teaching The FFA decided to have a waffle breakfast, just for the members anf teachers in our small building. You know I was the only one that had a waffle iron? I said, "you guys don't eat waffles?" They replied, "ours come frozen......" Ok.
