Rep Power: 10 | One thing I would recommend is going to a kitchen store. Before buying online, you may want to 'lift' the pans to see how heavy they are.
I love Le Creuset, but can't use it because it is too heavy. I have arthritis in both thumb joints so have to adjust what I lift.
Just a thought.

Rep Power: 2 | I had a difficult time picking out new pans recently. The Calphalon pans sold in my local stores weren't Calphalon One but a lower quality and lower priced version. Take care to get exactly what you want. |

Rep Power: 10 | The emerilware and all clad is very heavy because of the bottoms. If that would be an issue, you should try lifting before buying for sure. |

Rep Power: 10 | That's why I use my old (probably 40 years old) Revereware. It still looks great and does a great job.
A couple Christmases ago, my husband bought me the set from Costco. They are good but now that we have the birds I try not to use them.
Teflon pans of any kind produce an ordorous gas when heated and will kill a bird.
If I have to use one, I close their door, open the kitchen window and turn on the fan just to be sure.

Rep Power: 2 | I went out today and looked at some cookware, now I am more undecided than ever, I really like the emerilware, but discovered that I also really liked the cuisinart chefs classic stainless steel. I also went in to wal-mart and checked out the tramontina, it was very very nice for the price, but would get to the $200 range to get the pieces that I want for a complete set. Then there is the clad kenmore set from sears, built like the all-clad and tramontina, with the aluminum core going all the way up the sides.
I guess that I will have to obsess about it a bit longer!
My mom has been cooking with revere for many years and the stuff really does hold up over time, but alas revere went out of business in the late '90s I hear, and their name was purchased, and the cookware that is now called revere is just a shadow of its former self, so I have read.

Rep Power: 2 | Well my decision was made for me, as the Kenmore Elite fully "clad" set went on sale for 1/2 price at sears, just $99.99. This is the set built like the original all-clad with the aluminum layer extending all the way to the rim, it has gotten very good reviews on the website. I went to a sears today and got to check it out, they were out of stock, and there was no sign indicating the sale price.
I just need to add an 8" sauté pan to complete the set (even if it is another brand), I will shop around for that, I give a review on the cookware once I have gotten a chance to use it.
I was almost ready to buy the emerilware.

Rep Power: 10 | I didn't know they even made cookware. I looked for a photo but I can't find one on Sears site. Sounds really nice though. |

Rep Power: 2 | Congrats, Bakerman! You should have no problem with these. After doing some due diligence, I've found these pans ARE comparable to All-Clad. They are 18/10 Stainless...tri-ply, good and heavy (for those that prefer heavy), and will last a long time with proper care.
If I hadn't found a used 10pc Emeril set, I would probably have gone this route. I believe an 8" sauté pan (to complete the set) could be found on eBay...Emerilware being, I believe, your best bet.
Good purchasing, Bakerman!
