Lock & Lock

Has anyone tried any of the Lock & Lock food storage containers? I'd seen them on the shelves at the department stores and places like WalMart last year and all I knew about them was they were expensive. I was watching a kitchen show on QVC one day and saw how they were made and bought a set. They're dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and you can throw one (filled) across the room and it won't open. They have silicone seals in the top plus four flaps that you snap down to seal. Plus you can get a whole set for what two pieces would cost you in the department store and they end up to be much cheaper than Tupperware.

I liked them so much I got rid of all my Tupperware and, at last count, have over a dozen sets. They come in all sizes from tiny to huge. I do a lot of baking and got a few sets of the huge ones that hold two 5 lb. bags of sugar or flour or several 2 lb. packages of confectioner's or brown sugar. I keep them unopened in them till I need them and that way it keeps the nasties out.

I haven't seen those. Sounds really good though. I use mostly the ziplock throw aways for left overs. If they get warped after so many uses I just throw them away. I really like the jar type version of the ziplocks and I have got them the most recently. They have a screw on lid and I like that they fit well in the fridge.

I have some giant plastic snap top bins I got at the container store for my bread and all purpose flour. I buy the 25 lb bags at Sams Club and it's easer to use that way.

I like Ina's glass flour jar, but they were kinda pricey for me.

I don't think I've seen those. I'll have to look for them the next time that I'm out and about. I have a really old canister set that my mom gave me and I use it to store the flour, sugar, etc. I've been looking to ditch them for awhile because I worry the canisters don't seal good enough.

I got so annoyed with my plastic containers either warping and getting grody that I threw them all away and invested in a large set of glass pyrex containers. I haven't looked back since. I hate cleaning up and doing dishes, so really like that they are oven safe. I use one dish to bake, store, and reheat something in. Reduces the amount of work I'd have to do and I'm all about being lazy.

Suzie - have you looked at Target for the glass jars? I know that I've seen them sold there, although I honestly don't know how much they are. I need to go to Target tomorrow, I might wander over to housewares while I'm there.

I have one huge one that I did get at target a long time ago, but it doesn't have that rubber seal for the lid. If I could find a seal for it I might be able to use it for the all purpose flour.

I've seen them offered on QVC, but I've never seen them in person.

I go to the container store whenever we go to Columbus. It's a wonderful place. Wish we had one here.

These sound like some that Kohls is carrying under the food network logo, they are a bit pricey but the quality seemed outstanding, I bet that this company that made yours make these.

I really like a lot of the stuff at Kohl's in the food network line. Lots of very handy items.
